James Madison was born on March 16th, 1751. He was the youngest child to Eleanor Rose Conway Madison and James Madison Sr. His siblings included Francis, Frances, Sarah Catlett, Nelly Conway, William, Elizabeth, Rueben, Ambrose, and Catlett. -

April 4, 1809- Ban of Trade in Britan is banned
James Madison ended the ban of trade in Britan on April 4th, 1809. This was because Britain and France were fighting in a war. James wanted America to stay neutral, but it was hard with the way Britain was treating America. For many years, Britain had been seizing control of American citizens. Any person that they could turn into a Britain citizain. Madison finally banned all trade with Britain, but it didnt last long. The ban ended on April 4th, 1809. -
May 16, 1811- America fires on British Battleship
Madison orders the American Battleship, the President, to fire on British Battleship, the HMS Little Belt. -
April 20, 1812- 1st Vice President dies.
George Clinton, Madison's first vice president died on April 20th, 1812. -
April 30, 1812- Louisiana becomes a state
The conference committee composed of members of both houses passed an identical bill on April 6, 1812, and soon after, President Madison signed the bill into law. Louisiana had become the 18th state to join the American Union. -
June 18, 1812- War of 1812 Starts
James Madison was the president during the War of 1812, which started on June 18th, 1812. -
November 23, 1814- 2nd Vice President dies.
James Madison's second vice president was Elbridge Gerry. He served in this position from 1813-1814. On November 23, 1814, he died. -
December 24, 1814- The War of 1812 ends.
James Madison was also president when the war of 1812 ended on December 24, 1814. After about 2 years, this war ended with the Treaty of Ghent. -
