    The Cumberland Road
    The National Road (Cumberland Road) was built by the Federal government in response to a statemenrt for a road to tie together the East with the early West. The route selected ran from Cumberland, Maryland, through southwestern Pennsylvania to Wheeling, West Virginia at first.     The Era of Good feelings was a national mood of the United States from 1815 to 1825. As first described by the Columbian Centinel on July 12 1817.
