    Treaty of Paris 1763
    After seven years of war the fighting ended. The French and Indian War was over. Britain claimed all land east of the Mississippi river.

    The proclomation of 1763 forbade the Americans from ggoing west of the Appalachian Mountains.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    Britain passed the sugar act which put a tax on sugar, molasses, and other goods. It called for strict enforcement, and punishment to smugglers. It mostly effected colonial merchants.

    This law required that all legal and commercial papers carried a stamp. This stamp signified that a tax had been paid. This was the first act that taxed the colonist directly. Colonists along with Patrick Henry protested vigorously.

    This was an act passed by parliament to save money. It required colonies to hoouse British soldiers and provide them with nessecities. Most of the troops ended up in New York.

    The Coercive acts, otherwise known as the Intolerable acts were a series of laws to punish the colonists. They included laws to close the port of Boston until the destroyed tea was paid for. They also banned the Committees of Correspondence and allowed British soldiers to stand trial in Britain.
