Qualifying for Euro '88
On November 11th, 1987 Jack Charlton managed to do what no coach could ever manage to do which was securing Irish Qualification at the Euro 88 finals which took place in West Germany. The Republic of Ireland managed to reach Europe's international soccer tournament thanks to super sub Gary Mackay's late header which helped beat Bulgaria and secured Charlton's team a place in the tournament.

Beating England at Euro '88
Conquering their oldest enemy on the biggest stage in Europe was unbelievable. Penalty Shootout Romania Italia '90
Kevin Sheedy was the first penalty kick taker for Ireland and he made no mistake by smashing the ball down the middle and sent Romanian goalkeeper Silviu Lung the wrong way. Ireland scored the rest of their 6 penalties to go on and beat Romania very convincingly and marched on in the 1990 World Cup which took place in Italy. -

Died on July 10, 2020
Jack Charlton sadly passed away on July 10th, 2020 at the age of 85. The cause of death was lymphoma and he was also suffering from dementia at the time.
