    After going through many deaths in one lifetime, Ivan started becoming mentally unstable. In one such outburst, he killed his son and heir Ivan Ivanovich.This left his younger son, the pious but politically ineffectual Feodor Ivanovich, to inherit the throne.

    Ivan was ready to die due to all the death that was around him. He called witches to kill him but obviously, this didn't work. He soon after die of a stroke.
