Ivan leaves Moscow, fearing revolt, and vows never to return. Ivan soon announces his intention to abdicate the throne. The people of Muscovy preferred him over the boyars, and asked him to stay in power though. -

In a fit of rage, Ivan hit his son and heir, killing him. This act haunted Ivan until his death three years later. -
