First Arab-Israeli War
After Israel declared it's independence by renaming the Jewish part of Israel to something meaning State of Israel, the first war between the Jews and Palestinians began. Six-Day War
During this time, Israel launched a strike against the countries Syria, Egypt, and Jordan. They launched a strike because Nasser publicly established that he wanted to join forces with the Syrian and Jordan militaries and destroy Israel. -
War of 1973
Egypt launched an unexpected attack against Israeli forces. At the same time, the Syrian military also started attacking Israeli forces in a different location. -
Israel Invades Southern Lebanon
Before Israel invaded Lebanon, an attack in Israel had taken place, that of which was brought on by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). This resulted in Israel occupying a lot of the country of Lebanon. -
Egypt and Israel Come to Peace
Jimmy Carter, a former U.S. President, held a ceremony at the White House, and the Israeli Prime Minister signed a peace treat with the Egyptian President. This ultimately ended the state of war between the two. -
Israel and the PLO Sign Peace Accord
Foreign Minister Shimon Peres and the representative of the PLO, Mahmoud Abbas. This accord renounced violence between the two, and the ceremony was held by Bill Clinton at the White House. -
Tomb of the Patriarchs Massacre
Baruch Goldstein was an American immigrant who immigrated to Israel. On February 25th, 1994, Goldstein entered the Ibrahim Mosque located at the Cave of Patriarchs in Hebron. As he walked in, he opened fire at 29 worshipping Palestinians and is said to have injured 125 innocent Palestinians. This massacre did have an effect on the peace process, too. -
Israel and Jordan's Peace Treaty
Again, hosted by Bill Clinton, was another peace signing of some sort. This time, Israel and Jordan were the contestants signing the treaty. The two agreed to respect each other and forget violence. -
Israel Begins to Build
Israelis began to build a large fence that was planned to, at some point, continue on for about 200 more miles or so. The Israelis claimed the wall was needed in order to keep Palestinians who wanted to bomb out of their territory.
