UN plan to partition Palestine
needing to put the Jews somewhere the united nations chose Palestine to split up and create space for them. this created much conflict but the UN did it anyways because no one wanted the Jews in there country so they put them by "the holey land" -
israel declares independence
Israel wanted to be independent and be known as a country so they fought for 8 months. They became very successful and even gained more land. -

the conflict between Israel and Egypt became known as the Suez Crisis. After Egyptian President Gamal Nasser seized the Suez Canal from its French and British owners, the french and the British backed Israel in fighting Egypt to get the canal back. -
Formation of POL
the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) was created in 1964. The goal of the PLO was to take Palestine back from the Israelis. Yasser Arafat became the leader of the PLO in 1969 but passed away in 2004. During his time as leader the POL made attacks on Israel. -

being rightfully named this war in June 1967 only lasted 6 days. during this 6 days Israel was able to snag more land and continue to grow even if it caused another 500,000 Palestinians to fle
their homes during this conflict. -

Oslo Accords
Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and PLO Negotiator Mahmoud Abbas signed a Declaration of Principles on Interim Self-Government Arrangements in an attempt of peace, although there is still much conflict today.
