    Founding of ISKCON
    A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada officially establishes the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in New York City. His mission is to spread the teachings of Gaudiya Vaishnavism, particularly devotion to Lord Krishna, in the Western world. He begins by preaching and chanting in Tompkins Square Park, attracting many young spiritual seekers.

    Growth and First Temples
    Description: ISKCON expands rapidly, with the first temples opening in San Francisco (1967) and Los Angeles (1968). Prabhupada sends disciples to London, where they record the famous "Hare Krishna Mantra" song with George Harrison of The Beatles. The movement gains global recognition.

    ISKCON becomes an international movement with over 100 temples, farm communities, and cultural centers worldwide.
