Louisville was the third capital of Georgia. Louisville was named after King Louis 16th. There was an outbreak of malaria. -

the cotton gin was created by Eli Whitney in 1793. The cotton gin seperated seed from cotton quickly and increased slavery in Georgia. -
Yazoo Land Fraud
Alabama and MIssissippi were once Georgia's territory. Georgia agreed to sell land to land companies. land companies paid 500,000 for 35 million acres. The US government asked land companies to sell back the land but they already sold it to people. the land owners sued and the case went to the US supreme court. The Yazoo ruled that the sale was a legal contract so they had to pay the land owners 5 million dollars for the land. -

White men, 21 and older could pay to spin a wheel for a chance to win land. -
Railroads
Railroads were first constructed in Georgia in the 1830's. Railroads brought buisnesses , people, and goods in and out of the state. Many railroad lines intersected through Terminus, present day Atlanta. -
Baptist/Methodist
Baptist and Methodist churches were the two largest demoninations in Georgia. They spread throughout Georgia in the late 1700's. People were experiencing a religous "awakening" and these churches spread throughout Georgia.
