The Irish War of Independence was fought in Ireland from 1919 to 1921 between the Irish Republican Army and British forces. -
Anglo-Irish Treaty
Finally, in 1921, the Anglo-Irish Treaty was signed. This led to the partition of Ireland into two parts: Northern Ireland, which remained part of the United Kingdom, and the rest of Ireland, which became a separate country called the Republic of Ireland.
