The fact that the Iranian Nuclear Program is allowed to continue despite their vow to destroy the nation of Isreal is a mistake. The program puts the international community at risk of nuclear war. The Iranian Nuclear Program is notorious for breaking treaties and having secrret nuclear operations. -
Iran Nuclear Program Begins
Shah Mohammed Rezapahlavi leads a civilian nuclear program. Reaches deal with Eisenhower administration "Atoms for Peace Program". Under the deal the USA agrees to provide a nuclear research reactor in Tehran and power plants. -
Iran Signs Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty
With the american provided research reactor running, Iran becomes one of the 51 nations to sign the "Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty". They agree to never become a nuclear weapon state. -

Creation of the atomic energy organization of Iran. Conducts training for its personel and nuclear deals. Countries with nuclear deals include the US, France, West Germany and South Africa. -
Iranian Nuclear Program Restarts
Iran-Iraq war (1980-1988) changes Iran's views of the nuclear program. Due to competiton from Saddam Hussein, Ayatollah Khomeini restarts Iran's program secretely. He seeks assistance from Germany. -
Iran-Russia Nuclear
Iran and Russia signed an $800 million agreement to complete construction on a light water reactor in 4 years. The project was not finished until 2010. This agreement also included asking several other countries to prohibit the sale of nuclear technology to Iran. -
Discovery of Secret Plants
Iranian dissident group known as M.E.K. shares documents revealing nuclear program unknown to the United Nations. Program includes vast uranium enrichment plant and a heavy water plant. US claims they are in a pursuit of WMD's. -
Nuclear Program Suspended
In response to American invasion of Iraq Ayatollah Khamenei orders suspension of work on weapons related technology. He does however allow uranium enrichement to continue. After talks with Britian, France and Germany, Iran accepts more strict international inspections. -
Iran Nuclear Deal Approved by Congress
The Iran Nuclear Deal involving the extent of the Iranian Nuclear Program and international checks is aproved by the US Congress. If the Iranian's do not comply with the restrictions of the deal sanctions can return. Checks of Iranian nuclear programs including underground military bases is approved pending 24 day warning.
