These games set the tone for international play, which has greatly impacted globalization. Things like better communication have allowed for better trade opportunities and international understanding to an extent.

Voyages of Christopher Columbus to Americas
Christopher Columbus set sail from Spain and eventually discovered the Americas, which some would argue as being the start of globalization. Discovering the Americas I would argue as being one of the most important points if not the most important time for globalization in history.

Signing of the NAFTA, which is between Canada, the United States, and Mexico "provided for the elimination of most tariffs on products traded among the three countries." This set the tone for globalization for not only the three countries but internationally because of the elimination of tariffs and now we see most exports and imports in the United States between those three countries.
