In this society, we are trained to live our lives in pursuit of "the American Dream," which is an ideal solely built around the idea of economic and industrial success. This requires you to take part in the destruction of nature and the exploitation of natural resources. Nature and the American Identity as we know it today often don't exist alongside each other.
