Into the Wild

  • The first road trip to Yellow Datsun

    This was the first road trip that kicked off Chris's adventures. This was his starting point for his entire journey. He learns how much he really love being alone and in the wilderness.
  • His first visit to Alaska

    Chris was in college when he decided to visit Fairbanks, Alaska. He went on this trip to really see how people could live off the land and how Alaska was. He was continuing to find himself and when he went to Alaska he knew that it would be a signifigant place.

  • South Dakota

    Chris arrived in South Dakota where he met Wayne Westerberg. This was one Chris's closest relationships throughout his entire journey. Wayne gave Chris a ride to Carthage and gave him a job there. Chris learned the value of human relationships with Wayne.
  • Going across the border

    Chris purchases a kayak and goes across the border with it. He tries to paddle to the Gulf Coast but there were swamps in the way.
  • Bullhead city, Arizona

    Chris arrives in Bullhead City, Arizona. Here he wants to take a break from traveling so he gets a job as a fry cook at Mcdonalds. He sends postcards to Jan and she comes and visits him but Chris left. He learns that he can't stay in one destination too long and wants to continue his journey even more.
  • Salton City, California

    Salton City, California was where Chris camped out before heading back to Carthage. Chris meets an old man, Ronald Franz. He becomes close to him and delays his trip because of Franz. With every human relationship he makes, he learns to depend on them more. This relationship helps him because he gets a good father figure that had disappeared in his life.
  • Back in Carthrage

    Before going to Alaska, Chris returns back to Carthage, South Dakota. He goes back to one of his earlier relationships with Wayne. He starts working for him again and gets close to him before leaving for Alaska.
  • The arrival in Alaska

    Chris finally arrives in Alaska at Fairbanks. This is the beginning of his journey in Alaska. He gets a ride from a man named Jim. Jim may have been the last one to see Chris alive. Chris gets some valuable items from him and was stubborn about it at first. Chris also learns that it's going to be harder than he thought because of what people are saying.
  • Finding the bus

    Chris finds the bus that he eventually dies in. He makes this his base of operations. He hunts and searches for berries around this area. He finds out that it was harder than he thought and tries to go back to civilization but the river was too fast and high to cross. He learned it was harder than he thought it would be.
  • Nearing the end

    Chris is starting to starve and is struggling to get the energy to go and get food. He had been eating wild potatoes there and they turned bitter so he started eating the seeds. He learns that it wasn't as easy as he thought it would be.
  • Chris's Death

    Chris eventually dies from starvation in the bus. Chris had been eating wild potato seeds which were covered with a poison. This poison killed him and ended his journey. He wasn't expecting to die going into the journey but he wasprepared to die.
