  • Tim Berners-Lee changed everything

    Tim Berners-Lee changed the internet from a point to point system to one that could connect to a "web" of information that was accessible to anyone with internet access.
  • Internet Service Providers are now permitted

    In 1991 the National Science Foundation did away with the ban on commercial internet service providers and many providers began service to consumers.
  • Mosaic hits the streets

    The web browser Mosaic was launched and experiences exponential growth.
  • US Government takes a step back

    Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is created to transition the domain name system (DNS) from government control to industry control.
