ARPANET started off the internet, because it was the first network. It was mainly for military and college use. -
Email is introduced
An email is a message sent threw an electronic device to an electronic device. Email was founded by Ray Tomlinson. -
ARPANET for everyone
Arpanet like I had stated before was limited. It became international in 1973. -
FTP
FTP, which stands for file transfer protocol was established. Which was a great thing because it allows us to share things. -
Apple 2-PC release
Apple2 created the first PC.
It actually had color display, a case with a keyboard, and eight internal expansion slots. -
Domain name server
A domain server is a type of phone book, but for the internet. This was introduced to us in the 80's. -
NSFNET created
NSFNET stands for National Science Foundation Network. It's network soon turned into modern internet when ARPANET was turned off. -
The World Wide Web
Tim Berners-Lee invented the world wide web. The world wide web is a system that provides information. -
Mosaic
Mosaic was the first graphical browser. It was designed by graduated students at the University of Illinois. -
Google
Google, which is a search engine had came out in 1998. -
21st century-file sharing
File sharing is the ability to share files from one to another network. For example: limewire, torrents, and other programs. -
Napster
Napster was the 1st music sharing server. You could connect to any person on it, and download their music. -
Facebook
Facebook is a social media network. It started off only for college students, but got released to the public. -
YouTube
Youtube is where you upload a video and are able to share, comment, and like a video. It gives you the options to look up a video about anything. -
Twitter
Twitter is another social media place where you're limited to 140 character status. At first it was a fail when it launched but it's a success.
