Beginning of League of Nations
The League of Nations had its first council meeting in Paris. It was established after World War One and it's task was to ensure that another world war would not happen. The headquarters were moved to Geneva, Switzerland as it did not participate in the War. -
League of Nations Fails to be a Force to be Wreckoned with
Vilna was the capital of Lithuania during the middle ages and after WW1. In 1920, Poland seixed Vilna and Lithuania requested the aid of the League. The League could not persuade the Poles to leave because they did not have a military force or the authority that intimidated the Poles. As the League was not viewed as a force to be wreckoned with, they failed and the Poles controlled Vilna till WW2. -
League Of Nations Fails to Follow its own Rules.
After WW1, Germany had to pay for the damages of the war and failed to pay an installment in 1922, claming they just couldn't do it. Allies didn't believe this and in 1923, Belgium and France invaded Ruhr, Germany's industrial area. This went against the League's rules, but the only way the League could take action was if it was supported by the major members of the League, which were France and Britain. These members supported the invasion and the League failed to resolve the issue. -
League of Nations Against Mussolini in Corfu, Greece
This conflict began in August till the 27th of September 1923. An Italian general was killed in Greece while working with the League. Italian leader, Mussolini was enraged by this and invaded Corfu, Greece. Greece asked the League to aid them and the League punished Mussolini and told him to leave Corfu. The Greeks had to pay the League. Mussolini rejected the agreement and refused to leave Corfu. The League then made Greece pay Italy and apologize to Mussolini and then Mussolini gave Corfu back -
League of Nations Resolves Bulgaria-Greece Border Dispute
The dispute began when a Greek civilian was killed along the border of the two countries, which resulted in the Greeks retaliating and invading Bulgaria. The League of Nations was asked to intervene and resolve the dispute. They agreed for the Greeks to be condemned and the Bulgarians not to fight back. This was a successful intervention for the League. -
IMF Created
After WW2 countries were rebuilding their economies. The IMF was created to oversee the international monetary system, remove exchange restrictions that prohibit trade and monitor the exchange rate. -

The United Nations was officially formed to allow cooperation worldwide between nations to work on peace and development. Their key principles were based in justice and the rights of people. -
UN Declaration of Human Rights formed
United Nations publishes the Declaration of Human Rights. This document was the first document concerning human rights that was internationally recognized. It expresses the rights that each individual is entitled to. This has been used internationally for many years as a reference for laws and rights of people in countries. -
IMF Creates the Extended Fund Facility
IMF sets up Extended Fund Facility to give medium-term assistance to members with balance of payments problems resulting from structural economic changes. -

UN enforces the NPT
The UN created the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) in 1968 for countries to join the treaty and it officially began in 1995. 192 parties joined the treaty in the aim to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons and promote cooperation in the peaceful use for nuclear energy. The treaty worked towards completely disarming nations with nuclear weapons to ensure no nuclear wars could be waged. -
WTO Summit in Seattle disrupted by protests

IMF Grants Loan to Turkey
The IMF Executive board approves a $16 billion loan for Turkey. This is the largest loan in history that the IMF has granted. Such loans could be catalysts for a financial crisis as they are not paid back and countries go into debt. -

WTO Doha Development Agenda negotiations suspended
This is also known as the Doha Round and Its aim is to achieve major reform of the international trading system through the introduction of lower trade barriers and revised trade rules.
