    The enlightenment started with John Locke he basically established the whole thing and did all of the groundwork. It was a movement found to apply similar inquiry to the fields of law, economics and politics.

    On March 22, 1765, the British Parliament passed the “Stamp Act” to help pay for British troops stationed in the colonies. The stamp act Congresses required the colonists to pay a tax and documents. 9 colonies met in New York city become known as the Stamp Act.

    It was organized the summer of 1765, to protect the passing of the stamp act. It was a group of instigators who roughly used only disobedience to intimidate people. They did mark there early victories in December 1765 as well.

    It placed taxes on glass, lead, painters' colors, paper, and tea. had no representation in parliament, saw the acts of an abuse of power. taxed goods imported to the American colonies. it happened in 1776

    The Boston Massacre started march 5th, 1770 it all started when snowballs were getting thrown at the British soldier who was guarding a customs house. The colonists started because they were angry about the unfair taxes and took it all out on the colonists leaving many dead.

    When everything started in 1773, the incident in which 342 chest of Boston tea were thrown from ships into the Boston harbor by there rivals the American Patriots disguised as the Mohawk Indians. The British response to Boston tea party were to impose more stringent policies on Massachusetts.

    The first continental congress met September 5th, 1774 in Philadelphia. Some delegates believed compromise with Britain was possible. The congress eventually issued a declaration of rights, soon affirming there loyalty to the British crown.

    It was engrossed on parchment but it wasn't until august 2nd, 1776 when delegates began signing. On the 19th of July, congress ordered that it be engrossed on parchment and that it gets a new title, and still be signed by every member.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    It was proved to be the decisive engagement of the American revolution. It ended with the Americans ending in victory. They were outnumbered and outfought during a three week siege with them sustaining great losses.

    3/5 compromise
    on June 11, 1787, the three-fifths compromise counted enslaved people as three-fifths of a person. Three-fifths of the slave population would be counted for direct taxation and representation in the House of Representatives.

    The Constitution was narrowly ratified in Massachusetts June 6, 1788.did't ratified till they passed the bill of rights. Ratified basically mean approved. Also the new government can be launched without the ratified votes in every state except Rhode island and north Carolina.
  • Bill of rights adopted

    Bill of rights adopted
    Articles three through twelve were ratified and became the Bill of Rights on December 15, 1791. A joint House and Senate Conference Committee settled remaining disagreements in September. Washington sent 12 copies of amendments the congress to the state took some. 3/4 of the state took 10 of them and now its know as the bill of rights.
