    1260 BC: The Exodus
    The Exodus of the Hebrew slaves from Egypt under the leadership of Moses was held in 1260 BC. “In Exodus 3, God calls Moses to his mission. Moses meets God in a fiery bush in the desert. (p.85)” God tells Moses to free “his people”, the Hebrews, from their brutal slavery in Egypt. Although Moses was reluctant, he went to Egypt to liberate the Hebrews from his step-brother, Ramses II, who was Pharaoh at the time.   • 1207-1208 BC: Carving Israel

    Pharaoh Merneptah of Egypt went into battle against the Libyans in 1209. Merneptah’s army was outrageously outnumbered. Although they were low on men, used many battle tactics to defeat the Libyans. Egypt was relieved, and Pharaoh Merneptah created the carving of four commemorative texts. One of the carvings, was the “Israel Stela”, which refers to the revolt in Palestine. “This carving issued the first use of the word ‘Israel’ in history.
