Mike Krieger is born in Brazil. Krieger moved to California to go to Stanford University in 2004, and that's where he and Systrom met up. In Stanford he studied Symbolic Systems and Human-Computer Interaction.

Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger publish Instagram. Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger met at Stanford University and Krieger was an early Burbn enthusiast. Systrom had also worked for Google's Gmail.

In 24 hours, close to 25,000 people had signed up for an Instagram account. People loved the fact that Instagram was simply for one thing... Photos. Burbn was therefore less popular because it was too complex.

Instagram hits its 1 milllionth user. It is now on the list of one of the fastest applications to reach 1 million users. The Oink app and the Relaunched Path app being above it, the latter of the 2 being the fastest grower.

Facebook buys Instagram for $1 Billion. This is also when Kevin Systrom admits that he turned down a job for Facebook years before. Its amazing that Instagram is run by only 13 employees.

Instagram allows videos to be made. The videos are only allowed to be 15 seconds long, and you can tap a delete button to delete the most recent segment. The way its different than Vine is that the video plays automatically but does not loop.

Instagram is valued at $35 million. Since then Kevin Systrom has been on Forbes magazine. Instagram also works out of Twitter's old office.
