DiPietro waived by Islanders after playing only 3 of the team’s first 17 games, all losses. The Islanders still owe him $36 million over remaining eight years of his contract. Dipietro has been playing in the AHL affiliate for the Islanders, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers since being put on waivers.
