They believed that if everyone worked together and everything was publicly owned then eventually government wouldn't be needed and at first the government must be very strict until it must eventually fade from power when it will be at a point in time when everything will be at peace.

To fight this they built unions, but in England were not allowed to strike. The combination acts prohibited umions howeve, in 1875 they won the right to strike and peacefully protest.
