In 1769, the Scotsman James Watt patented an improved version of the steam engine that ushered in the Industrial Revolution. The idea of using steam power to propel boats occurred to inventors soon after the potential of Watt's new engine became known. -

Women’s Suffrage
The demand for the enfranchisement of American women was first seriously formulated at the Seneca Falls Convention (1848). After the Civil War, agitation by women for the ballot became increasingly vociferous. In 1869, however, a rift developed among feminists over the proposed 15th Amendment, which gave the vote to black men. -
The Gold Rush
Discovery of Gold in the rivers of California spurs a massive internal migration, and immigration of China nationals to the west shores of the United States, seeking their fortunes in the hills. -
Outbreak of the American Civil War
The final breaking point over slave trade fueled tensions between the north and the south regions of the United States. -
Alfred Nobel creates dynamite.
Alfred Nobel invents dynamite, which is a safer way to blast holes in mountains or the ground than simply lighting black powder. Dynamite is important in clearing paths to build things such as roads and railroad tracks. -

The president found an ally in an increasingly concerned public that had been wary of big government solutions in the past, but was now more receptive. The trusts' continuing growth in numbers and power convinced many that action was needed. -
Henery Ford Creats the Model T
Henry Ford creates a type of car called the Model T. It is much cheaper than other cars because it is made on an assembly line, allowing many more people to buy cars. -
Theodore Roosevelt formed the Progressive party and ran for president.
Teddy Roosevelt was kept from running for president as a Republican and decided to run representing the new group of progressive republicans. This new group was called the "Progressive Party" or the "Bull Moose Party." -
Eighteenth Amendment Passed
The Eighteenth Amendment created social reform by banning alcoholic beverages in America. There was a need for reform in society thanks to the abuse of alcohol. The Women's Chtistian Temperance Union and even Roosevelt got behind this reform and got is passed December 18th, 1917. -

the government wanted ot conserve the nature in forest and keep it there and let it grow.
