First Steam Engine!
The first steam engine using a piston was produced by a man by the name of Thomas Newcomen and was used for pumping in a mine. This was a great invention that later led on to the making of trains, cars, machines etc. -
John Kay's Flying Shuttle
John Kay's flying shuttle was used for the hand loom. It was a device that greatly accelerated weaving. This made the process of making clothes, rugs and blankets etc. faster and filled the shelves of alot of stores. -
First Railroads!
1776, iron had replaced the wood in the rails and the wheels. This was the start of railroad history. It created more durable and sturdy tracks and trains. This made it so there was less deaths and they didn't have to be repaired as often. -
First Stick of Dynamite!
First stick of dynamite...what did it do for the world? Well, it caused alot of war and led to the making of atomic bombs and explosions. It may not have been a positive thing but it was the first of its kind and it was a fairly good invention. -
First Installed Traffic Lights!
The first traffic lights were installed outside the British Houses of Parliament in London to control the flow of traffic in Bridge St., Great George St. and Parliament St. This meant alot for history as later came better cars and traffic lights would help from any accidents occuring. -
Bell Invents the Telephone!
The invention of the telephone brought excitement to the world. It allowed people to make contact with relatives, friends, business people etc. It built a path to the start of technology. -
First Microphone Invented!
The invention of the microphone was huge for music, theatre's, radio stations etc. It was a piece of technology that would be used frequently in the years to come. Now, we use microphones for almost every public function all over the world. It is a well known piece of technology. -
Aspirin!
Aspirin, as it is known today, is a substance called acetylsalicylic acid (ASA). It is used worldwide as a ‘blood thinner’. Aspirin was used in ancient years. It was found in plants (the willow and myrtle) and it has been used for thousands of years. -
First Manned Aeroplane!
The first manned aeroplane flight was a stepping stone in the history of aircrafts. Even though the plane only flew for about 12 seconds and went 120 feet it was a lift off to building better, more advanced aircraft. Now we are flying anywher from 50 people to 200 people in the one aircraft. -
Henry Ford Mass Produces the Model-T
The Model-T, also known as the 'Tin Lizzie', was the first ever ford car produced by Henry Ford. It was a great invention as it led people to travel further in less time and also led to the creation of motorsport. -
Titanic!
Titanic was a piece of new technology at her time. She was named 'Unsinkable' because everyone thought that she wasn't going to sink as she was new technology...but they were wrong. Titanic sunk in the Atlantic ocean in the early morning hours when everone least expected it. Out of 3,327 people, atleast 1500 people died. -
First World War!
The First World War was fought between Allied (Entente) Powers which were France, British Empire (Australia, England etc.), USA, Italy and so on and Central Powers which were Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire, Bulgaria etc. World War 2 was caused because of some treaties that happened at the end of World War I
