John Kay (flying shuttle)
On June 17, 1704, John Kay invented the flying shuttle. The flying shuttle helped people in many ways it let weavers make cloth a lot faster than the normal tedious methods of hand making cloth and it also let weavers make a wider piece of cloth. But many people were getting jealous and trashing John Kay's house. This invention is still used today by some people, but not many and there are now automatic ones. -
James Hargreaves (spinning jenny)
On June 12, 1770, the spinning was invented by James Hargreaves. It was invented in Stanhill, England. This invention more thread to be produced by fewer spinners and it also was a higher demand. But the yard had low strength and a high tendency to snarl. The original spinning jenny is no longer used today anymore. The technique was also improved. -
Robert Fulton(the first commercial steamboat)
On August 22, 1787, the first commercial steamboat was created by Robert Fulton. It was tested on the Deleware River. The steamboat allowed travelers to go upstream and downstream. This ability enabled Americans to travel virtually everywhere by water. The steamboat is that the steam engine would accumulate too much pressure and explode. The steamboat is still used today for crossing rivers and lakes, or taking commercial tours of Maine's rivers and lakes. -
Richard Arkwright (water powered spinning frame)
On December 20, 1790, the water frame by Richard Arkwright. It was set in motion in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The water frame allowed cottage industries to supply more textile products properly. The water frame created less labor for the workers and produced things faster. It also created child abuse and made people lose their jobs.It inspired the textile industry. The machines are still used today but they are more complex and advanced and they no longer run on water we use electicity. -
James Watt (steam engine)
On February 1804 the steam engine was patented in England. The is James Watt. The steam engine gave another reason for coal and helped railroads grow and learn more about the fundamentals of railroading. The steam engine also was very polluting and was huge and hard to produce. The steam engine is still used today for many fields of industry, but the big wheels on steam engine aren't used anymore . -
Richard Trevithick (the 1st steam locomotive)
On February 21, 1804, the first steam locomotive was operated and invented by Richard Trevithick. It was fueled by burning coal, wood, or oil. It was first operated at the Penydarren Ironworks in Wales. The locomotive gave another reason to mine coal and it helped railroads grow and learn more about the fundamentals of railroading. It also was very polluting and it was very large and hard to make. There are still locomotives today, but they are powered by electricity. -
George Stephenson (commercial locomotive)
On July 25, 1814, the commercial locomotive was patented. It was invented by George Stephenson. It was first tested om Stanton Street, Abbotsford. The locomotive was a cheaper way to get around to places and it made transporting goods easier. But people were moving in and out of cities which caused diseases to spread.Commercial locomotives are not used as much as they used to,but they were innovated into trains. -
Henry Bessemer (steel process)
In 1856 the steel process was created by Henry Bessemer. He was knighted in 1879. He opened the first Bessemer steel works on Carlisle Street. The process increased artillery in Europe during the war and it helped create in cheaper and bigger quantities. The process created controversy with Bessemer's patent and many people believe they created the process before Bessemer did.Steel is still used today in almost everything you see. -
Samuel Compton (spinning mule)
On June 6, 1862, the spinning mule was invented by Samuel Compton. It was created in Bolton, United Kingdom. The machine distributed large scales of manufacturing of high-quality thread. The spinning mule gave the spinner great control over what they were doing. The spinning mules increased slavery. The spinning mule is not used anymore is was driven by still driven by hydroelectricity, and water turbine. -
Louis Pastuer (germ theory)
In 1864 the germ theory was created by Louis Pasteur. It developed a method of creating weakened diseased organisms to be injected into hosts as vaccines against various diseases like rabies. It was developed in Europe. The theory created a suspension . But it made people aware of the germs going onto their bodies. There is still a germ theory and many people are aware. -
Thomas Edison (the 1st light bulb)
In November 1879 Thomas Edison created the first light bulb. The light bulb was a low purchase, heat could be used as heat lamps, there was a low manufacturing cost. There were high operating costs, is last for a short time. The light bulb is still used today it just had been highly innovated. -
Nikola Tesla (alternate current)
In 1888 Nikola Tesla created the alternate current. The alternate current would travel over long distances with less loss of power than D/C. Transforming the current to a high voltage reduces the current.High voltages are not generated efficiently, so low voltages are generated and the voltage has to be transformed to a higher level for long-distance transmission. An alternate current is still used today it just was updated and now they are not so big.
