Watt's Steam Engine
It was the first type of steam engine to make use of steam just above atmospheic to drive a piston helped by a vacuum.This was the next great step in designing the next great steam engine. It is one of the earliest steam engines built and is the oldest in existence. It was installed in a London brewery in 1785 and was used for 102 years. The steam engine powered many different things in the brewery. -
Whitney's Cotton Gin
The yield of each raw cotton doubled each decade after 1800. Changed society for the worse. Increased slavery from 6 states during 1790, to 15 states during 1860. -
Fulton's Clermont
Carried more than 100 passengers from New York City to Albany within 30 hours. Made the trip in 4 days. Continued sailing until floating ice marked the break for winter. -
Stephenson's Train
Stephenson's train was made to haul passengers more than freight. The weight that he could haul would be restricted greatly. The weight that the train would haul could be no more than three times the actual weight of the locomotive. It was built at the Fourth Street Works of Rober Stephenson and Company in Newcastle upon Tyne. -
