Andrew Jackson pushed for the Indian Removal Act to be passed, this act would force Native American living in the east of the Mississippi river to designated plot of lands west of the Mississippi river to place like modren day Oklahoma were fertile lands were hard to find, this was unlikly the Natives homeland of Georgia, Mississippi, Flordia, Alabama, Tennessee, and North Carolina, were fertile soil is in abundance. -

After the Indian Removal Act; the treat of have ones land be taken right from under their feet. The Choerkee Nations decided to take a stand. The Cheorkee nation fought for their freedom. The Supreme court ruled the case unconstitutional. Outraged President Jackson(knowing the Supreme court couldn't enforce laws) told the supreme to enforce the law. Crazy horse and his men ambushed Captain William J. Freemont's troops while wlks on a trail made by white settlers. This trail went right through the Souix hunting lands. -
Sand Creek Massacre
On November 29, 1864; Colonel John Chivington's men massacred a peaceful tribe of Arapahoe and Cheyenne. Near Extinction of Bision
The near extinction of Bison was due to Americans hunting Bison for fun. The poluation went from 65milion to 1,000 in 90 years. The Bison were a source of food, clothing, and shelter for Native Americans. -

Red River War
This happened from six years of constent raiding from the Kiowa and the Comanche. The US Amry moved the women and children away from the battle cite and opened fire on the warriors. This battle crused the rebellion. -
Custers Last Stand
After gold was discovered in the Blackhills. On June 25, 1876, Custer led his men into battle. Heorders were to hold off the Souix until reenforcements came. Under the leadership of Souix cheif Sitting Bull, along with Crazy Horse and Gall the Lakota overpowered the American army and defeated them. These was one of many great Native American victories. -
Crazy Horse
He was born in 1849, known for his bravery, he was a Lakota leader. As a boy he was a legend because he stole crow horse. Soon He became a leader in the revloution against the Americans. He was one of leaders during the vistory of Little Bighorn. -
Dawes Act
This act tried to "Americantize" the Native Americans. The broke up the reservations and gave land to individual Native(160 acres to each family), and 80 acres to unmarried adult. The rest of the land was given to American settlers. -

Also a soix leader. Was important in Cuter's Last Stand. A leader in the rebellion. -
Wounded Knee Massacre
After the Ghost movement spread quicky the government began to worry, so the American leaders ordered the arrest Sitting Bull. Also due to revenge because of the defeat at Custer's last stand. The Seventh Cavarly(custer's old regiment). The regiment rounded up 350 Natives and took them to Wounded Knee Creek. A shot was fired. The soldiers opened fire with cannons. About 300 Natives were killed in minutes. The event was made to look a battle and called a battle. -
