A foreign policy statement that was delivered to Congress by President James Monroe. The policy promised that the U.S. would stay out of European businesses as long as they stay out of the Western Hemisphere's business. -

This war involved a territorial dispute between the United States and Mexico. The U.S. used unfair tactics in their "manifest destiny" to claim more land in the North American continent. -
Purchase of Alaska
Secretary of State William H. Seward signed a treaty with Russia for the purchase of Alaska. Alaska wasn't fully transferred until Oct. 18, 1867.
