Queen Liliuokalani despite being the third child was able to accend the thrown due to the deaths of the sibilings that the throne rightfuly belonged to. As queen she was able to limit her own power and write a constitution. Her ruled ended with the arrival of the Americans. -

This battle where Ethiopian forces defeated the invading Italian troops under Emperor Menelik II. Ethopia had before remained independent by deciving other contries and playing them agaist each other. All the while they gathered guns in an attempt to modernize the country. -
