    The Sepoy mutiny was caused by the use of beef and pork fat in wax cartrige covers for the Enfield rifle, which was issued to Sepoys. The Sepoys rebelled, and destroyed the East India Company. The British Raj, or total control of India, then began.

    Queen Liliuokalani was the last queen of Hawaii. She took the throne in 1893, and later relinquished it to the United States, because of their superior military force.

    Ethiopians defeat the invading Italians at the Battle of Adwa
    The Ethiopians kept their independence throughout the colonization of Africa, mostly due to their king, Menelik II. Menelik played the Europeans off of each other, and this bought time to establish a powerful European-like army in Ethiopia. This army defeated the Italians in the battle of Adwa, and the Ethiopians were never conquered.

    Spanish-American War breaks out; Puerto Rico, Spain, and the Philippines taken from Spain
    The Spanish-American war broke out during the Cuban Civil War, and was partially caused by Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst, who wrote for two newspapers. These people portrayed Spain as an immoral, horrible empire that was funded by stolen gold and slave labor.

    The Boers, or dutch farmers in South Africa, rebelled against the British, which caused the Boer war. The Boers were put into concentration camps by the British, which were cruel places where people starved to death.

    Most of Africa is under European control
    Almost all of Africa was under European control, and many of the people were enslaved. The Europeans used slave labor to harvest raw materials, which were made into various goods in Europe, and shipped back to Africa at exorbitant prices, which made the Europeans wealthier.
