    A peace treaty was signed between the British and the Chinese. This treaty was extremely unfair in favor of Britain.

    A political revolution in Japan where the emperor took back control of Japa, replacing the Shogun. During this time period, Japan's technology got much more advanced, and their traditions became more western.

    Russia and Japan were fighting over land for their empires. Japan won, making them the first Asian country to defeat a European country in modern times.
