The Chinese people who desired an independent, modern republic rebelled against the Qing dynasty. They eventually won and created a democracy. -
Panama Canal Bulit
When President Roosevelt wanted to build a canal in Panama, he helped Panama win their independence from Columbia. After they did this, Panama gave the US a ten mile wide zone to build a canal.
