The Berlin conference marked the climax of European competition for territory in Africa. The Berlin conference is significant because it marks when King Leopold II decided to carve up Africa . Belgium expanded as the rest of European nations. This caused wars among the people of Africa.

The Spanish America War
The Spanish American war was a new kind of war involvement in the U.S. It was not an eternal conflict.
