The sepoys were Indian soldiers hired by the British. When a rumor spread that their amunition was greased in pork and beef fat, they rebelled, destoying the East India Company. The British defeat the rebellion and initiate the Raj, which is the British control of India. -

Ethiopians defeat the invading Italians at the Battle of Adwa
The Ethiopian army, led by King Menelek II, defeated the Italians and helped their country become the only African country to remain independent. They had many advantages, such as guns, knowledge of the area, and numbers. -
