Rebellion in Andia against the rule of the British East India Company, ( Their use of beef and pork fat in the weaponry upset the Idians because it went against thir religion). -
Meiji Restoration
Chaiin of events that restored the pratical imperial rule to Japan under Emperor Meiji. -
Suez Canal- 1869
This was shorter passage towards India, which was much shorter than the original route. Which was built in Egypt. -
Source of the Nile
Dr. Livingstone was sent by Leopold II to explore. Dr.Livingstone was know as a missionary and explorer who famously disappeared. -
Scramble for Africa 1881-1914
European colonies decided to come into Africa and colonize it. They used Africa for its resouces and used its natives to do work. At first it didn't come easy, the natives fought the Europeans off but, were dominated by the Maxim gun. -
Berlin Conference 1884-5
Regulated European colonization and trade in Africa during the New Imperalism period, and concided with Germany's sudden emergence as an imperial power. -
Leopold II and Congo 1885-1908
Leopold wnated to have a colony of his own, so he tool over Congo. The resources that he mailny wanted were rubber and ivory. During the time of his control atleast 50% of the population of Congo decreased. -
Technnological Advantages
This technological advantages help the Europeans take control over the African colonies. Examples are the Maxim gun wich helped dominate Europe. -
The Boxer Rebellion 1898-1901
An uprising in Northern China against the spread of Western and Japanese influnce lead by the Society of the Righteous and the Harmonious Fist.
