Refugee Loyalists There was a second major wave of immigration starting in the 1770's. These people were British citizens who had origonally settled in the Thirteen Colonies . These people however, were more loyal to the British Crown following the start of the American Revolution than the patriots who would go win the war. These new settlers are called Loyalists and are considered Canada's first political regugees. -
