    There were very few categories for immigrants coming to Canada. The reason why is because they wanted the west to be settled. The categories restricted the amount of people coming to Canada.

    The Canadian government came up with the head tax to try to make Chinese people not go to Canada.

    Komagata Maru indecent

    The Ship Komagata Maru had Indians on board which did not like their living conditions in India but they were no allowed to enter due to the Indian exclusion act. The Indians refused to leave until they were allowed into Canada. They were refused food and water and were later stopped by a British gun boat, where they tried to arrest 20 people, when the resisted arrest the gun boat began to fire killing 19 people.

    Internment of Ukraine Canadians

    The Ukraine Canadians were interned due to the war measures act. The reason they were interned was because they were considered illegal aliens.
  • Internment of Italian Canadians

    In the 1940's Italian Canadians were interned because of the War Measures Act. They were put in camps because some may have been spies.
  • Internment of Japanese Canadians

    The Japanese Canadians were interned because of the War Measures Act. The Canadian government worried that some may be spies that are trying to get information.
  • Singh Decision

    The immigration act of 1976 did not allow a man named Mr. Singh to enter Canada because it did not allow him to stat his case it violated section 7 of Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms which ended up letting him into Canada and allowing other refugees have a right to a hearing which they attend to in person.
