Naturalization Act of 1790
This act allowed for immigrants to become naturalized citizens after two years of living in the United States. -
Naturalization Act of 1790
Limited naturalization to immigrants who were "free white persons" of "good character". It excluded American Indians, intentured servants, slaves, free blacks, and Asians. It also provided for citizenship for the children of US citizens who were born abroad. -
Naturalization Act of 1795
lengthened the required residency to become a US citizen from two years to five years -
Naturalization Act of 1798
Further lengthened the requited residency to become a US citizen from five years to fourteen years, registers white immigrants to establish the date of their initial residency. -

The first restrictive federal immigration law that prohibited the entry of immigrants considered "undesirable" -

Immigration Act of 1882
Created a 50 cent head tax that would be imposed upon certain immigrants entering the country. -
Immigration Act
This was one of the first comprehensive immigration laws for the US, Bureau of Immigration set up in the Treasury Dept, and it empowered “the superintendent of immigration to enforce immigration laws”. -
Emergency Quota Act
This act limited the number of immigrants from any country to 3% of those already in the US from that country as per the 1910 census. -

Repealed the Chinese Exclusion Act and permitted Chinese nationals already in the country to become naturalized citizens. -

Started sanctions for knowingly hiring illegal aliens, provided amnesty to illegal aliens already in the US and increased border enforcement. -

Increased legal immigration ceilings, created a diversity admissions category and tripled the number of visas for priority workers and professionals with US job offers. -
Illegal Immigration Act
Phone verification for worker authentication by employers, access to welfare benefits more difficult for legal aliens, increased border enforcement, and also had to do with the Reed Amendment that attempted to deny visas to former US citizens, but was never enforced. -
Enhanced Border Security and Visa Entry Form Act
Provided for more Border Patrol agents, requires that school reports foreign students attending classes, stipulates that foreign nationals in the US will be required to carry IDs with biometric technology. -
Real ID Act
Required use of IDs meeting certain security standards to enter government buildings, board planes, open bank accounts, establish national standards for state drivers licenses, and cleared the way for the building of border barriers. -
Arizona SB 1070
US state law that requires aliens 14 years or older who are in the country for longer than 30 days to register with the US government and have registration documents in their possession at all times. -
Alabama Immigration Law, HB 65
The Alabama state legislature passed a controversial new immigration bill on June 9th that requires public schools to check students' immigration status, criminalizes giving undocumented immigrants a ride, requires employers to use E-Verify to check potential employees' status, and instructs police to check the immigration status of anyone they can stop if they suspect the person of being an undocumented immigrant.
