Arrival of the Vikings
The Vikings were the first Europeans to immigrate to Canada.
They came after they were forced to leave Iceland and established in the 10th century in Greenland at first (hence why Greenland belongs to Denmark) but later spread across what's now known as the Newfoundland and Labrador area. -

Nouvelle France
John Cabot was the first Frenchman to set foot in Canada in 1497. He was searching for a Northwest passage to Asia but instead found a land overflowing with fish. The colonisation of this land would be the true beginning of the country now known as Canada -

French Colonisation
Spearheaded by the work of Jacques Cartier and Samuel de Champlain respectively, Nouvelle France was built and survived many turmoils. It stood strong until the Seven Years War where the British conquered the "New France". Despite the British's best efforts, the French Settlers are still here and thriving. -
Cupid's Cove; British Colonization
Established by John Guy, Cupid's Cove (known then as Cuper's Cove) was the first British colony in Canada. It was also only their second colony in North America. -
Irish Presence in Canada
The Irish were allies with the British. Tec Cornelius Aubergnon was the first recorded Irish-born colonial in Canada. He died in 1687. -
Russian Colonization
During 1732 to 1867, the Russian Empire claimed the Eastern territories along the Pacific Coast from Canada to Mexico. -
Americans to Nova Scotia
Over 3 000 000 Americans have immigrated to Canada throughout the centuries, which started with the Yankees (not the baseball team) and would later be followed by the Loyalists and et cetera.

British Colonization
When the British won the Seven Year War in 1760, they gained legal ownership over the French Colonies in North America (the seeds of what would later become Canada). They've owned the country ever since and this would become instrumental to the development of our country. -
The Highland Scots
15 000 Scotsmen immigrated to Canada from 1770 to 1815. They originally settled in P.E.I, Nova Scotia, and Upper Canada (now known as Ontario) but have now spread out across the country. -
German Colonists
The first German settlers arrived in 1776, then in 1820, some came and settled in Ontario. From 1881 to 1914, German Immigrants settled all over Canada. -
Jamaican Arrival in Canada
The first Jamaican Colonials settled in Halifax and had a big hand in the building of the Halifax Citadel from 1795-1800. -
Arrival of French Allies: The Italians
Even though the Italians helped the French in The Seven Year War and began colonizing in the 1830s and 1840s, mass colonization didn't start till the 1870s. -
Chinese Gold Rush
The Chinese originally came to Canada via America due to the Gold Rush. The first "China Town" in Canada was Barkerville, British Colombia. By 1860, the Chinese Canadian population was estimated to be 7k. -
Norwegian Immigration
Quebec was a very popular entry point for Norwegians immigrating to Canada, along with other Scandinavian Immigrants. -
Swedish Immigration
The first rural Swedish colony, Scandinavia, was settled near Erickson, Manitoba.

Japanese Immigration
The first generation of Japanese Immigrants (called the Issei) came between 1877 to 1928. Canada began limiting Japanese immigration. -
Dutch and Danish are not the same
The Vikings, even though they'd been exiled from Denmark, were the first Danish to immigrate to Canada (even with Icelandic blood also running through their veins as well by that point). The Dutch were a completely different people. Coming from the Netherlands and allied with the British, they originally colonized America before immigrating North to Canada. -
Hungarian Immigration
Hungarian Immigrants came north to Canada through America.

Serbian Immigration
In August 1903, Sremac Herceg was one of the first Serbian Immigrants to arrive in Canada, settling in Toronto. -
Actual Indians, you know, from India
2000 Indians (I repeat, from INDIA) immigrated to Canada through British Colombia from 1904 to 1908, which was met by much controversy. Nearly every Asian that has ever immigrated to Canada has been met with controversy and that is something that must change.
