    Even though it didnt have a time period, Germans that moved to the United States were called Pennsylvania Dutch. The people of the United States did this to kind of segregate the Germans. Meaning that they did this to show that the Germans weren't American and they will never be.

    The year 1860 was a huge year, not just for the Germans but also for the United States. During this year about 1.3 million Germans immigrated to the United States. The Germans just wanted to start a new life. But the Americans did not like this because the Germans were able to work at the same job. But they did it for not as much money as the Americans.
  • Germans in the Civil War

    Without the help of the brave German soldiers, the Confederacy mght have won the Civil War. During the battle in Missouri, there were a lot of Germans who put their life on the line. During the entire Civil War, 17,313 Germans returned home. About 1,200 were killed in action. 4,972 settled in America, and 6,354 died from illness or accidents.

    During 1894, a lot of Germans were coming into the United States. I believe that it was over 2 million. It seemed that almost anywhere you went, there were Germans. So what the United States did was they made German journals or newspapers. They made these newspapers in the German language so that they could understand what was going on in the United States.

    Anti-immigration is when one group of people settle in another area. Anti-immigration started around the 1870s when the American citizens finally got annoyed of all of the newcomers taking their jobs.
