Paleo Indians
In 200AD Paleo Indians started to migrate to the Southwest. -
Roanoke
British started to colonize in the New World (Present day America) in 1585. They first setted at Roanoke. They were ill-equiped, and not trained to live off the land. Expedition was not sucessful. -
Roanoke Part 2
This was the second expedition to Roanoke. It consisted of mostly families. They were determined to build a durable community that would last. When relief expedition came to help in 1590 they town of Roanoke disappeared. -
Jamestown
Britian's second attempt at colonizing. This expedition was funded by the Virginia Company. They landed at Chesapeake Bay and called the town Jamestown. -
New England
In 1620 the pilgrims settled on Plymouth and the Plymouth colony was established. This was the first colonization on New England. In 1630 Massachusetts was settled in and the Massachusetts Bay Colony was established. New England’s early life was actually quite stable. -
13 Colonies
All of the original 13 colonies have been established. -
The shot heard around the world
On this date at Lexington Green was where the first shot/battle was held that started the revolutionary war between the 13 colonies and Britain. -
Victory at Yorktown
This was the final battle in the Revolutionary war and in Yorktown was were the British surrendered leaving the 13 colonies as the victors of the revolutionary war. The Treaty of Paris was not signed until 1783. -
Constitution
The constitution was created on this date. The constitution is the supreme law of the US that maps out our government and our natural rights. -
Louisiana Purchase
A large area of land making up most of the middle east of present day US from France was bought by the US in 1803 by Thomas Jefferson during his presidency. -
Fort Sumter
The Battle of Fort Sumter was the beginning of the Civil war between the confederate and the union. -
Homestead Act
A law passed in 1862 where the US sold land at a low cost to encourage migration to the Midwest. -
Confederacy Surrenders
On this date the Confederacy surrenders and comes back into the union. Union won civil war and as a result it preserved the union and abolished slavery. -
Cold War
From 1947 to 1991 was when the Cold War took place. The Cold War wasn’t actually a war but more of an intense rivalry phase between the US and Soviet Russia. -
Civil Rights Act of 1964
Law passed by President Johnson to ban discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. -
Arizona SB 1070
SB 1070 was a law passed that required all immigrants over the age of 14 who remain in the US for more than a month to register with the US government and for registration documents to be in procession at all times. Later on April 30 HB 2162 was passed that ruled that prosecutors not investigate complaints based on race, color, or nationality. -
Voting Requirement
The US Surpreme Court refused Arizona's law of providing proof of citizenship to vote.
