Libya and Gaddafi
In 1988 an airline blew up over Scotland killing all 288 passengers. There were two Libyans that were thought to be suspects by Gaddafi would not give them up. This caused tensions between Libya and Gaddafi. -
Armenia/Azerbaijan
After the restoration of Armenia's independence of Azerbaijan applied to the UN general assembly and to the international community with the request to join the United Nations. -
Bosnia and Herzegovina
The United States did very little to help. The region was torn apart by fighting among Serbs, Croats and Slovens. -
War in Kosovo
US secretary of state, played a centeral role in the Kosovo crisis. The secretary warned that if NATO delayed in taking action in the Kosovo crisis, the crisis would become worse. Later on the U.S. began to bomb and force a peace agreement. -
Israeli/Palestinian conflict
During 1993 the United States and other nations moderated discussions between Israeli and Palestinian leaders. In 1995, Israeli and Palestinian leaders met in D.C. with Clinton to discuss steps to gradually transfer autonomy to the newly formed Palestinian authority. -
South Africa
United Nations sent key peacekeeping forces to the area. And launched investigations into war crimes. The fighting did not stop. -
Civil War in Africa
The Clinton administration did very little to begin. As they continued to fight in 1995 President Clinton and NATO took part in bombing certain parts in Bosnia. The Clinton's brought the leaders to Ohio to help talk peace and resolve the conflicts.
