Born-Munich, Germany
I lived my first 15 years of life in Germany. I only knew how to speak German, but it was hard to find a job, or food! I wanted to come to America to learn how to speak English and to find a job easier. I'm writing this autobiography so my family knows its roots. -
Boatride to America
The lifeline, about Adelbert Esbenshade, is on a boat, sailing all the way from German that enters to America from riding a boat. Adelbert Esbenshade explores America to find out what it's like since she's German. Adelbert was poor, and she came to America so she could get money by working, and learn how to speak English. Some immigrants that came to America from Ellis Island, they came from Southern Europe. -
My Experience at Ellis Island
Adelbert started to look for a job, and it was really hard for her to look for a job. A lot of the jobs were full, but then she found one job, and it had a sign left, that had one more application left. After she saw the sign, she started to apply for the job. I bet half of the Americans are allowed to follow their families foot steps for whoever passed New York at Ellis Island. -
Working in a German Food Market
As I grew up, I started to work in a building called German Food Market. I've worked at the German Food Market for five years. They'res a lot of food, at the market so everyone, would survive to eat food. I had to unload a lot of trucks, so my market would have a lot of food, so all the people, would be able to eat all the food.
