U.S. Naturalization Act
Act that allowed immigrants to become naturalized U.S. citizens after two years of residing in the United states. -
Naturalization Act of 1795
Lengthened required residency to become a citizen. -
Naturalization Act of 1798
Further extended required residency in order to become a citizen. Registers white immigrants to establish date of initial residency. -
14th Amendment
"All people born or naturalized in the U.S., and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the U.S. wherein they reside." -
Page Act of 1875
1st federal immigration law did not allow "undesirable" immigrants to pass over; Chinese were discriminated -
1882 Chinese Exclusion Act
Chinese laborers could not come for 10 years; no Chinese naturalization -
1882 Immigartion Act

Geary Act of 1892

Arizona Immigration Law
Anti-Illegal immigration measure; rules on how long people could stay without advising if they were immigrants; if caught, it was considered a crime. -
Alabama Immigration Law
If police are suspicious that someone is an immigrant, they can stop them and arrest them. Allowed them to attemp to find the person's legal status.
