In the beginning of The Best of Me the two main character are established, them being Amanda Collier and Dawson Cole once highschool sweethearts, but now they live seperate live. The story is told from the switching perspectives of Amanda and Dawson. In this chapter you learn more about each of the main character and how they interact after seeing each other for the first time since they broke up. They realized they had been set up after one of thier nearest friends died and put both of thier names on the will. Chapter 10-15, pages 140-190
In these chapters Dawson continues to see a dark haired man that is saving him from life threatening situations, but we can't figure out who he is. Amanda and Dawson have to spread Tucks ashes at his cottege at which neither of them have been to, but it ends up being a set up to try and get Amanda and Dawson to reconnect. Whiles this is going on Dawson's cousins Abee and Ted are planning revenge on him, not just revenge, but death. Fiction: pages 140-190. Total (556) -

In this part of the book Amanda has to make a decision, whether she wants to go back home to her normal life, with her husband and children despite what she did with Dawson or follow her heart and go with Dawson. Chapter 19-end. Pages 234-292
In the end of the book, Dawson sees the "ghost" agains and follows him to the town bar where he ends up saving David Bonners son from him cousins, when doing that Dawson gets shot and dies. Amanda on the other hand is waiting to get a heart transplant for her son, when her sons ends up living because of his new heart she figures out where he got his heart from Dawson. Amanda continues on living her life always remembering Dawson and what he did for her. Fiction: pages 234-292. Total (658)
