  • The Difference Engine

    The Difference Engine
    This was created and developed by Charles Babbage to calculate mathematical equations and getting rid of human error. He built it but then while designing the difference engine V2 he ran out of money and so the machine was never built.

    The very frst ever electronic and programable computer. Developed by Tommy Flowers. Made to help decipher the encrypted codes from the German High Command in World war II (Lorenz Cypher).

    Used in almost all electronic equipment, it is a series of cicruits on a plate of semiconductor material. This material is usualy silicon. Invented by German engineer Werner Jacobi.

    Thefirst computer mouse was a ball based device implemented by a company in germany called Telefunken. It allowed easier operation of computers.

    The first compact calculators came out around 1970 and were used to calculate sums and equations. They were developed by companies like Sanyo in Japan.

    These were devices used by consumers to interact with games on TV sets. The first home video game console was released in 1972 by Magnavox.

    The first computer to be mass produced for personal use. Included a moouse and graphical interface. Developed by Steve Jobs.

    Microsoft Windows was invented as a graphical interface to operate the computer. This meant it was a lot easier to operate your computer.

    Is a series of documents and web pages that can be accessed and are connected by hyper links. Now also called the Internet. Developed by Tim Berners-Lee.

    Email is digital mail sent from one computer to another. It can be sent over massive distances and is a way of socializing around the world. Email was available over different networks that soon became popularized.

    Amazon was one of the first exaples of successful retail on the Internet. Amazon was founded by an American called Jeff Bezos.

    The first social media appeared on the Internet around 2000. The most famous social media to date is the well known Facebook which was developed in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg and his university colleages.
