Moros y Cristianos
The celebration of Moros y Cristianos is celebrated by 28 armies fighting. It occurs on April 21 and April 24. It takes place in Alcoy in the province of Alicante, celebrated by the Alcoyanos. On the last day the Christians are defeated in the morning. Then in the afternoon, after the appearance of St. George, they surround the Moors and defeat them. It first started in 1275 when St. George helped conquer the Moorish army whose leader was Al Azraq. -
La fería de abril
When the 1000 marquees, known as 'casetas' celebrate la fería de abril they have an ongoing flamenco performance. This occurs from the 3rd of May to the 8th of May. They have loud music and bars in the city which the marquees also celebrate. Another attraction is to go to the market and admire the beautiful women and eat oranges. -
Castellers de Vilafranca
In the celebration of Castellers de Vilafranca the public stands on top of each other to form towers. They celebrate this event on July 5. The Barcaloenian people from Spain, celebrate this event because of their interest in the building of human towers.
