Homo Habilis lived for 1 million years.
Homo Habilis made tools, was bipedal, and had an omnivorious diet.
Homo erectus had a bigger brain than Lucy and was found in the same place, Africa. -
Homo Erectus
Homo Erectus lived for 1.8 million years.
Homo Erectus stood straight, learned how to make fire, made tools, was biped, and had an omnivorious diet.
Homo Erectus also had a larger brain.
Homo Erectus was found in Africa as well. -
Neanderthals
Neanderthals lived for approximately 500,000 years.
Neaderthals had the sense of a community, were stronger, had bigger brains, and had all the other basic things...(biped, diet, tools)

Homo Sapien Sapiens
Homo Sapien Sapiens are moder humans.
Homo Sapiens Sapiens developed an artistic mind and creativity.
They had all the other characteristics as the other but they looked more like us and had bigger brains.
There were no fossils found but there was a cave full of paintings that were preserved from a landslide. -

Gilgamesh was a king who, supposedly, ruled Mesopotamia. No one knows if he was real or not. He was really over himself and was over protective about his city. The gods gave him a friend just like him, same strength and agility. They went on many adventures together and they insulted the gods a lot when doing it. The gods killed his friend Enkidu and Gilgamesh went on a mental quest for immortality. -
Abraham
Approx. 1900 BCE
Abraham was the first Hebrew person and father of all the Hebrews. He lived in many places; mostly in Ur and then Canaan and then Egypt. He believed in only one God. -
Hammurabi's Code
1792-1750 BCE
Hammurabi was the best known king that ruled Mesopotamia because of his rules. He lived in Babylon and he made laws for his people. His code was a bit unjust for us because different punishments fitted the time. -
Joseph goes to Egypt and the Israelites follow

Joseph was Jacob's 11th son out of 12 and Rachel's firstborn. He had a dream about overpowering his brothers and they sold him off to slavery. He then became very powerful in Egypt , after a famine struck he led the sons of Israel down to Egypt where they settled. -
Moses, the Exodus from Egypt, and the Ten Commandments
Approx. 1280-1240 BCE
Moses was a Jewish porphet from the Old Testament. He freed them the Hebrews from slavery in Egypt and he led them through the desert and promised them land and gave them the Ten Commandments. He was also known to be the man to seperate water. The Exodus was the name of the journey that Moses led. The Ten Commandments are a set of laws that told people what not to do and what to do. Some like " DO not lie" or "You shall not have no other god before me". -

Deborah was a woman who gave advice to people. Her responsibility was to give people the right choices in life. She was most famous for teaming up with Barrack to defeat his enemy.
Ruth was a woman who took care of her mother-in-law Naiomi. She gleamed (to pick food that has fallen to the ground during harvest) to take care of herself and Naiomi. A wealthy man aknowledges her and the marry. Her decendants become kings. -
The Reign of David
Approx. 1013-973 BCE
David was a man who was visiting his family in Israel. He was confused of why so many people were afraid to fight this giant man so he challenged Goliath. He wins the battle and Saul, a rich, brave man, sees how popular David has become and puts a death sentence on him. Soon Saul dies and David becomes king. -
Elijah
Approx. 875-853 BCE
Elijah was a man who performed extraordinary miracles with the help of God. He onced proved to the Egyptians that God was real by having this challenge with the king to see who could light a fire. The king was unsucessful but when Elijah raised his arms to God, fire fell from the sky and burned the wood and the priests of the city. -

Indus Valley Civilizations
2000 BCE The Indus Valley was a place where the Hindu religion came from.
The "Indus people" are called Dravidians.
The Dravidians thoguht it was important to be clean so they had water tanks in temples for ritual bathing.
Archeologists found ceramic statuettes and seals that represented the fertility in women (pregnant woman) and the virility or sexual forse in men (bull). -
The Aryan Invasion and the Vedas
1700 BCE This was a time when the Aryans invaded the Indus Valley and they weren't like most invaders. The Aryans respected the Indus' beliefs and they kind of merged together as one to make their own.
The Vedas are a peice of writing in Sanskrit. One of the materials in contained was the RigVeda. -
The Ascetics and the Upanishads
700-500 BCE An ascetic is someone who is devoted to self-discipline and a life of spritual "sternness". It was created because when the Aryans and Indus people moved to the Ganges Valley and they represented the elite society (highest are the Brahmins). The Bramins were sooned questioned about their roles and the Ascetics were born.
The Upnishads were part of the Veda and it was written by ascetics. It mainly is sayings of a spirtual master or "guru". Upanishad means "sitting beside" a guru.
