    Homo Hibilis

    Around 2.5 million years ago
    Had a larger brain and started using really basic tools. They used sticks and rocks that they sharpened to help make things easier.

    Australopithecus

    Around 4 million years ago inhabited the earth
    In south central Africa Ethiopia
    Only about 3 feet tall and lived in trees the first hominid(human)

    Fire

    Fire was a great discovery and tool for the early humans. It allowed people to cook their food and get more use out of it. It also was used as a form of protection against bigger predators. Being able to cook our food made our stomachs shrink and allowed our brains to grow bigger.

    The spear was a great invention by early humans that greatly improved their ability to hunt. The spear allowed humans to further exploit their own unique ability to throw things with power and aim. The spear allowed them to hunt a bigger selection of prey and be more successful.

    Land bridge

    Occurred around 2 million years ago. It was a land bridge that had been hidden underneath the water that connected Asia and North America. This bridge allowed the people of early civilization to cross into the Western Hemisphere and start colonization there too.

    The ice age was a great migration influence. It made it difficult and easy to move from place to place. With the water freezing and glaciers being formed that uncovered many pathways to other places that had been under water before. The giant glaciers and freezing temperatures also made it so humans couldn’t go to certain places.

    Stone axe

    The stone axe was one of the first inventions and could also be one of the most used. The axe was sharp on both sides and allowed humans to do many things other than chop sticks. They could use it for what ever they seemed fit and it was definitely a major step in the creation of tools.

    Homo Erectus

    Around 1.8 million years ago. They were smarter and began to use tools like knifes and sticks. They started walking on two feet to free up their hands for the use of basic tools.

    Mount Toba

    Super volcanic eruption in south east Asia that drove the world into a volcanic winter for 6-10 years. Covered the earth in ash leading to the death of plants and animals. Due to limited resources humans are forced to migrate to find food. Due to this humans leave Africa.

    Agriculture

    Agriculture was a major milestone in early civilizations. Agriculture allowed humans to stay in one place and grow. Humans were no longer in a rush to follow herds of animals or hunt everyday. With agriculture they could farm and the even store the crops to allow food for later if needed.

    Jericho

    Jericho was a settlement that was built by springs of water that ran in and out of the settlement. The springs allowed the settlement a pretty much endless supply of water so Jericho was able to have and support a large population. Jericho was surrounded by walls and filled with houses that were circle and made of clay and straw.

    30,000 years ago. The domestication of wolves allowed for humans to have a safer home and be safer while hunting. The wolves also helped them in hunting greatly by being able to track and alert the hunters of predators and prey.
